The Geranium

Geraniums are an old time favorite flower for the garden. They come in a myriad of colors and are quite versatile. They can be used as plantings in the garden, in window boxes, in pots and hanging baskets. They can even be grown indoors in a sunny location!

When we think of this plant, we most likely picture a tallish plant with clumps of red flowers sticking up from a pot, but there are many varieties to please any gardener.

The wild geranium, commonly found growing wild, is thin leafed plant with light purple flowers and perfect for a cottage style garden. The ivy geranium is perfect for hanging baskets and window boxes with it’s sprinkling of flowers and vine like growth that can hang up to 3 feet! For something really different, you can plant scented geraniums.

The wild geranium has antiseptic properties that are said to help balance oily or dry sking and hair. It is also said to help relieve acne.
