Maculatum Geranium Seeds Of Wisdom

The oils from the geranium can be used to help relieve stress as well as improve skin and hair Producing essential oils around the leaves and flowers, this plant is native to South Africa and adorns gardens around the world. The healing oils are most potent right as the plant begins to flower.

For a herbal infusion, you want to infuse olive oil with your herb. Find a jar that can be tightly covered and fill with the botanicals til it is 1” from the rim. Pour in extra virgin olive oil to cover. Sit on the windowsill for 2 weeks. Shake it every day. Strain out the flowers and store in the refrigerator. It should keep for 3 months.

If planting in containers, choose planters that will be large enough to support growth of the plant. If you find the plant wilting between watering, this may be a sign that it needs to be repotted. Make sure there is adequate drainage and take care not to overwater.

Geraniums will grow just as well in outdoor planters as in your garden bed. The key is to make sure you pick a planter big enough to support growth of the plant. Use a soil that has plenty of aeration like a commercial mix or garden dirt mixed with perlite. Use a container that will drain well and even add some rocks to the bottom so that your plant does not sit in the water. Plant in a sunny spot that is protected from strong wind. Fertilize monthly and water weekly.
