The Miniature Geranium

The miniature geranium is a great pick for garden borders. This hardy plant grows only about 8 or 10 inches tall and blooms all summer. One of the favorites of the miniatures is the Black Beauty which has burgundy leaves which darken to a deep purple. The flowers are a lighter blue purple with burgundy veins and black stamens.

Planting Tips For Miniature
  • Plant in garden beds, planters and hanging baskets.
  • Geraniums need 6 hours of sun every day to flourish so plant them in a spot that is at least partially sunny.
  • Soil conditions should be slightly acidic and well drained.

Keeping geraniums in containers is nice if you live in a climate with a harsh winter – you can bring the plant in in the cold weather and set it back out when the last frost is over. Make sure you give it a planter that is large enough for the plant and take care to not overwater.

Geraniums can be nice to have indoors to brighten up a dull winter. Make sure you put them in a very sunny spot and use a well drained potting mix. Optimum temperatures for these plants is 65 degrees in the day and 55 at night.

Make sure you check the Miniature for signs of pests and diseases
