Rose Geranium Oil

As oil from an herbal plant Rose Geranium oil can be used in several ways. It can be made into infusions of oil or tea and topically as a compress to fight a wide range of ailments.

The healing Rose Geranium oils can be infused and applied topically or ingested as a tea or essential oil. Since the geranium has antiseptic properties, it is reputed to help restore balance in the skin and hair when applied topically. As a calming herb, drinking geranium tea can help relieve stress.

The soothing qualities of the Rose Geranium Oil add to it’s reputed uses as a healing herb for cuts, sunburn, bruises and eczema as well as help in relieving the symptoms of PMS, menopause and even hemorrhoids. The aroma of the oils act as a natural repellent for insects and it has been used on dogs as an effective tick repellent.

As A Tea:

You can make a tea from dried or fresh leaves. For dried leaves, use 2 teaspoons, for fresh use ¼ cup. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the leaves and let sit for 5 minutes. Strain the leaves out and drink.

A Topical Compress:

Put dried herbs in a dish that can be covered tightly and pour boiling water over them. Cover and let steep for 15 minutes. Strain out the herbs and soak a cotton cloth in the infused water. Apply damp cloth as a compress.

Infused In OIl:

For a herbal infusion, you want to infuse olive oil with your herb. Find a jar that can be tightly covered and fill with the botanicals til it is 1” from the rim. Pour in extra virgin olive oil to cover. Sit on the windowsill for 2 weeks. Shake it every day. Strain out the flowers and store in the refrigerator. It should keep for 3 months.
